Chauchilla Cemetery
The Chauchilla cemetery is located 30 kilometers to the south-east from the city of Nazca, Ica department . This great Inca cemetery dates approximately thousand years of antiquity, and lodge to a hundred of Inca mummies.
This archaeological area has been looted for many years by grave robbers who stole only the value objects like pieces of gold, silver, fine textiles, ceramics and other Inca elements with which(whom) they were burying to its deceased leaving outdoors corpses and other remains, which survive until our days.
Currently some Incas tombs have been recovered, leaving these as a gigantic Museum in the middle of the desert, here will see some mummified skeletons exposed in the same place where they met.
Itinerary
Early in the morning after breakfast, we will pass by you at the hotel transfer to the Necropolis of Chauchilla approximately 28 Km. in the Southeast of the city. We will have the opportunity to travel by each of the ancestral tombs allowing us to see the skeletons and mummified bodies with long braids of human hair and old colorful ceramics.
After visit the area of Chauchilla 4200m.a.s.l. we will return to Nazca to visit the workshop of ceramics, and receive information about the development, evolution, and the polychrome of Nazca ceramics.
