Colca Canyon Trek: 3 days – 2 nights

ITINERARY

Day 01 Arequipa – Cabanaconde – San Juan de Chuccho.

Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and then will travel to the Colca valley, after approximately 4 hours journey by bus you will arrive to the village of Chivay, where we will rest briefly, and then continue our trip to Cabanaconde, located at 3.287 m.a.s.l. after our lunch of the day we start our hike toward San Juan.

During the tour we will see part of the wild flora and fauna that shows this Valley and the geological formations found in this place.

After a few hours of walking we will arrive at the village of San Juan, here we will spend the night in the small rustic houses of the inhabitants of this town and we will have the opportunity to interact with the families in the area.

5. Walking time: 4 - 5 hours.

Day 02 San Juan de Chuccho – Sangalle.

Early in the morning after our breakfast we will continue our trek toward Tapay, located at 2.900 m.a.s.l. , we shall continue our trip until cabanaconde, located at 2.100 m.a.s.l. here we will stay in the houses of villagersor simply camping. In the afternoon we will be able to give a brief tour of the beautiful valley of the Colca Canyon or simply relax and interact with the families of the town.

2. Maximum altitude: 2,900 m.a.s.l
3. Distance travelled : 8 - kilometers.
4. Walking time: 4 – 5 hours.

Day 03 Sangalle – Condor's Cross – Arequipa.

Early in the morning we head toward Cabanaconde, then we will go to the viewpoint Cruz del Condor. When we come to this strategic vantage point we can appreciate the majestic Andean Condor considered previously by the Incas as the sacred bird of the Tahuantinsuyo.

The presence of the Condors in this sector is very frequent, since they go out every day in search of the daily food, there is a minimum probability of not achieving to observe, much depends on the weather and the season that we are.

After enjoying this amazing sight, we will go back to Chivay, in the return journey we will have the opportunity to see impressive pre-incas hanging tombs and the seven thousand hectares of terraces inherited by Inca pre ethnicities as the Collaguas and Cabanas, that still continue to be used by the inhabitants of these areas.

When we come to Chivay where we will have our lunch and we will continue with our return to the city of Arequipa.
