Lares Trek to Machu Picchu

Description

Day 01: Cusco – Calca – Thermal baths – Waca wasi.

Very early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel to lead toward the valley of Lares. During the tour of 3 hours we will appreciate Andean villages, which give life to a beautiful natural landscape. Then we will come to the community of Lares that is situated 3.200 m.a.s.l. , where we will have free time to enjoy the hot springs of Lares. Also we will have lunch there.

  1. Tour bus distance: 140 km (thermal baths of Lares).
  2. Accommodation: camp (two persons per tent).
  3. Meals: Lunch, dinner, coca tea.

Day 02: Waca wasi – Sipsay lake – Pata cancha

After breakfast, we will start our trek by the Lares valley; during this tour we will appreciate some communities that still maintain their traditions alive. When you arrive to the Sipsay Lake, we will have lunch, and then we will continue walking to other villages further away from the area, where they also show us all their customs and way of life that still conserve. Finally we will arrive at Pata Cancha where we will have our second day of camp.

  2. Meals: Lunch, dinner, coca tea.

Day 03: Pata cancha – Willoq – Ollantaytambo – Aguas calientes (Machu Picchu).

Very early in the morning after breakfast, we will continue our trek toward the community of Willoq. This community is characterized by being one of the more colorful of the Lares Valley. Then we descend into the town of Ollantaytambo, where we will take our train to the village of Aguas Calientes where we will have our third night in lodging.

  1. Lodging: hotel (two persons per room).
  2. Meals: Lunch, dinner, coca tea.

Day 04: Machu Picchu – Cusco.

Early in the morning after breakfast at the hotel, we will go to the bus station which will lead us to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. Here we will have a guided tour of the most important areas of this great Inca city, such as the urban area and agricultural as well as the turrets, ceremonial plazas, sacred source, the Intihuatana or solar clock and terraces from where we can contemplate the domains of the Inca.

After a guided tour of two hours, you will have time to visit freely Machu Picchu and take all the pictures you want. At the time indicated by our guide we will descend toward the village of Aguas Calientes in order to have lunch. In the afternoon we will board the train of return to the city of Cusco.
